Whether performing new commissions, or cycles of works, such as Bach Suites, Beethoven Sonatas or Britten Suites, Alice Neary has developed a reputation as a great communicative musician. As winner of the 1998 Pierre Fournier Award, she gave her Wigmore Hall debut to critical acclaim. Other competition success includes third prize in 2001 Leonard Rose International Cello Competition, USA.
Recent performances include concertos with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Israel Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and Scottish Chamber Orchestras, and festival appearances at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, USA, Manchester International Cello Festival and Bath Festival. She plays regularly with the pianist Gretel Dowdeswell.
Alice studied with Ralph Kirshbaum and with Timothy Eddy, as a Fulbright Scholar. She now teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music. |
